When Carlos Tevez swapped Manchester United for the blue rivals Manchester City, not only the fans at Old Trafford were unhappy.Indeed, two Red devils were the worst hit.
Patrice Evra and Ji-Sung Park were left to rue the departure of their close pal. Never in the history of football have three players been this close (OK.that's an exaggeration). But teammates wondered genuinely how the two were going to cope on Tevez's departure.
Darren Fletcher wondered how the three could be that close, since they were from very different environment.Rio Ferdinand,in 2009,also couldn't understand it
"Carlos is Argentinean and doesn't speak English," he revealed, "Ji-Sung is South Korean and barely understands English. And Patrice is French and can only speak broken English."
No wonder Fletcher wondered how they spoke to each other.Rio further revealed,
"They do everything together. They train together, eat together and even shower together.Ok,that's a joke."
With Tevez's departure almost sealed in the summer of 2009,there were suggestions he moved to City so he could be close to his pals...prompting a writer to name them 'Jitevra',a coinage from their names.
When Evra scored his first and only goal this past season,it was fitting he got the assist from Park. The ball, probably realising who it was supposed to go to,overtook everyone and landed straight at Evra, who later said
"I got a pass from my best friend. What do I buy for him?"
With everyone interested in on-field matters,we fail to realise football's greatest objective is in the off-field matter. It brings the world together.Even if you were European/African(Evra), Asian(Park) or South American(Tevez)!
