Governor Peter Obi of Anambra state is well-loved by a lot of people, especially those who love the judiciary.Thrice,he was unfairly treated.Trice, the judiciary gave him redemption.
It is therefore a huge disappointment when people say bad things about him. While it is part of politics,it however elicits concern when criticisms get constant.
On observation,no single Anambra indigene loves him. Before you accuse me of exaggeration,do it yourself. You would even vilify me of understatement.
They say he has arrogant commissioners, like that of Youth And Sports,Lady Chinwe Anowai. They say he is stingy, even to himself. They say he thrives on propaganda(but which governor in the country doesn't?).They even say he is just the reason Dora Akunyili, and indeed APGA as a whole in the state, lost the senatorial seat, because he is hated by a lot.All these are open to debate.
What is never debatable is the shabby and unfortunate way he treated corp members from the state, who were lucky to survive the Bauchi and Kaduna massacre.
Akwa-Ibom,Imo and even Abia states treated theirs well. The psychological trauma they went through was much, and the least they expected was to be treated so badly by their leader.'Okwute Anambra'(the rock of Anambra)as he is called, did that, and more.
They were denied access to the same man who claimed he wanted to see them. They were told to 'come today, come tomorrow'.Those who lost their valuables and returned empty-handed from the north are still roaming the streets of Awka aimlessly.
For his reputation and his own sake,I advise he treats those 'homeless' corp members better,so they don't regret being Anambrarians and then nobody would hide under the umbrella 'physician, heal thyself'
