I heard that President Goodluck Jonathan,just like the out-going administration did,is planning to include the opposition parties in his administration,in the much touted and so-called Government Of National Unity(GNU). I think it's absolute rubbish,to say the least.Good enough,ACN and CPC are not interested,or so it seems.
I think the government needs the opposition.Without an opposition,the government could go astray.The opposition is not just there to criticise the government's every move or call them unprintable names.No.
As a matter of fact,I think with the opposition in place,a particular government would do better.They alert the people on where the government must have erred,and the government takes correction,does the right thing,and takes the glory.Believe me,the success of Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state is down,not just to his brilliance alone,but also what the opposition has accused him of.Whatever the opposition must have said he never did in his first administration,he would now do.Who takes the glory?Himself.
I therefore urge Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to shelve any such plans,for his own good.As expected,the opposition must talk.That's why they are the opposition.That would drive him to do better,rather than make him fear.
