Entertainers now love politics. Before, nobody ever looked their way. They were seen as unserious people,at best.As a matter of fact, they were viewed as a set of empty-headed never-do-wells,who took to entertainment just to justify their immoral acts and hide their inefficiencies. That, lately, has changed.
These days, they have turned to politicians' right hand persons.Ejike Asiegbu(Abia),Okey McAnthony 'Bakassi'(Imo), Hanks Anuku(Delta),Richard Mofe Damijo(Delta),etc, have served their states in a few capacities.Even the likes of Kanayo O. Kanayo,Clem Ohameze and Andy Ike have tried to contest elections at some points.
Remember how Nollywood stars endorsed Charles Soludo for Anambra State governor, and even President Goodluck Jonathan.Ikedi Ohakim had many nollywood stars during the flag-off of his campaign.
Recently,Tony 'One Week' Muonagor won election to represent Idemili North 1 constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly.
If we remember Julius Agwu saying years ago that Governor Chibuike Amaechi always felt he was out to joke whenever he(Julius) had a proposal for him, then we understand how fast things have changed.
In all,it speaks well of the entertainment industry.Entry into politics, alongside giving the people the best entertainment that makes meaning,is a major way to foster growth in the industry...Long may it continue.
