Every talk on election and how it was conducted, who did what the other did not do and how it was done, who was killed and who wasn't killed, would be forgotten (I say this tongue-in-cheek.A lot of them are in court, anyway). But what would not be forgotten at the end of the day is how they make good or bad use of their position. The manner Imo State's Ikedi Ohakim got into office in 2007 was a bit controversial, yet what would be discussed in years would be how he beat up a priest, how he insulted education, how he made himself an 'alpha and omega', how he always boasted, how he impoverished Imo, etc. The same applies to the others.
Therefore, as the elected public office holders assume office tomorrow, the only thing on their minds should be how to consolidate on what they had started, how to right their wrongs and how to better what their predecessors have already done, depending on the situation they find themselves.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for example, has to find a solution to the madness in the north. Tougher measures should be put in place, so no useless people kill others who have things to offer. Nobody wants to be a hero in death. At least I don't want to.
I congratulate those who would be inaugurated tomorrow, especially my governor Dr T.A Orji. There is a lot of work to be done.So let's not dwell on the inauguration!
