News, grapevine and facts emerging on Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) have been alarming, to say the very least. A lot of bribery allegations have emerged and most of the delegates, especially on the Quatar 2022 World cup bid, have given proofs to corroborate these notions. In fact, the suspension of Nigeria's Amos Adamu is starting to look unfair!!
Sepp Blatter, a diehard political football chief, has been the president of the now very corrupt FIFA for more than 12 years and is still counting. He is seventy-five (75) now, more than five years older than Sir Alex Ferguson, whom the media have been counting time for. He seems to have lost touch with reality, really. People complain about leaders who sit tight and fail to leave. Blatter is blattantly one of them.
Diego Maradona, one ex-footballer who never fears giving opinions, called them ''dinosaurs'' who know ''nothing about football'', and ''hopes they resign'' although he knows ''they would not."
Blatter is not even ready to leave. As a matter of fact, he says he has brought in three people, to help clean-up the house. And who are they? Johan Cruyff, former Barcelona player and manager, inventor of total football, but also a total divider of opinions, is one. No problem, who else? Placido Domingo, a Spanish-Mexican opera singer, who hasn't played in, talked of or managed a team. The third? Henry Kissinger, an 88-year old (!!!) former USA Secretary of State. Oh dear!
How these men, excluding Cruyff (depending on where your opinion on him lies), hope to change the face of FIFA, we would just wait to realise.
Football, I fear, is soiled...just like other sectors.
