When Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, etc, went on massive protest to oust leaders who have been in the helm of positions in their countries, the world supported them non-stop. The same cannot be said about the FIFA house.
Sepp Blatter, a Septugenarian, has been the FIFA president for more than 12 years, and he's not ready to let go. He's now been re-elected 'unopposed'.
When Asia's Muhammed Bin Hamman declared interest to contest against Blatter, I knew he would be such a magician to succeed. One, Blatter is the biggest politician football has ever seen. Two, Blatter, admittedly, has done well by giving smaller countries the chance to be noticed. It could be argued Bin Hamman, who is from Asia, where one cannot boast of being a big footballing continent, would have done well to uplift football in the less-popular continents. But then Blatter has done that before, and more. Bin Hamman, I would boldly say, was knocked out by corruption blackmail from the Swiss. But who cares. As long as Blatter keeps doing what is needed, long may it continue. Until FIFA brings restriction on the number of years a president must stay, we have to keep up with what we have. And that's Blatter.
