Politics could be so unpredictable, and there are no permanent friends, neither are there permanent enemies. No place has this played out so much than in Imo State.
Remember it was said ex-governor Ikedi Ohakim used to be friends with Ifeanyi Araraume, but they fell out. Then Araraume worked against him, in tandem with Araraume's own sworn enemy (or former) and the man who stopped him from being governor in 2007, and incidentally put Ohakim there. Plots and sub-plots. Recently, Governor Rochas Okorocha's list of commissioners gave another twist to the fun.
Prof. Vera Onwuliri, Ohakim's running mate in the just-concluded election was one of the nominees, which makes me wonder. Is it that Ohakim has been so rejected, that even his people have left him? Or does Rochas want to bring everyone together, a la Government of National Unity (GNU)? Or is this just one of the definitions of politics?
Anyhow we look at it, it was a surprise.
