I pity former speaker, House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole. Since his arrest, a lot of people have used his name to coin lots of things, most of them derogatory.
His partakers in crime have left him high and dry and escaped to only God-knows-where. He is left to bear the cost of 'contract inflation and embezzlement of public funds'.
Bankole, who was denied oral bail and was advised to apply for it formally, has no good advisers. He would have easily pleaded guilty and allowed them sentence him on 'one-year imprisonment', with a 'month' he has spent already counted and the rest spent in the 'hospital' due to ill-health.
Seriously, however, I do not think much would be done to that man. The court would grant him bail, and that would be it. Na Naija we dey, ko?
