It was all too embarrassing. Argentina underrated Nigeria at their peril. Prior to their friendly match in Abuja, analysts decried the absence of the likes of Carlos Tevez, Lionel Messi, Sergio 'Kun' Aguero, Javier Mascherano, Diego Milito, etc. Indeed, Argentina manager Sergio Batista viewed this as an ordinary match. No wonder I felt so happy as Nigeria played like Spain. Samson Siasia has, for now, proved how good a manager he is. With such short period, Nigeria has been turned from pathetic laughing stock and no-hopers to cynosure of all eyes and top challengers. Argentina could use unavailability of their star players as excuse, but people forget Nigeria also never had a star player in the team. No Martins. No Kalu Uche, etc.
With the performance today, Osaze Odemwingie could as well say a final goodbye to Nigerian football. Nobody would need him at the moment.
As Nigeria celebrate a new generation of teams, we pray we do not get let-down.
