Gists in Nigeria

From my headline,something seems imminent.At least today,I wouldn't bore you guys with all these political stuffs.Ok,maybe I would,a little bit! Don't blame me.I drink,eat and sleep politics.What else would you expect?
But no,today,I would delve into the world of unseriousness.Even the best are guilty of this.Else,how would we explain Abubakar Audu's loss to Ibrahim Idris of Kogi state in 2003 election?Or how do we explain my inability to keep up to date with my blog?But then,the most stunning question would be how we could explain Arsenal's loss to lowly Birmingham on Sunday.
The six year wait for trophy goes on.Realistically,this represented the easiest path to stopping the rot.But no.Either our dear Arsene Wenger underrated the beauty of winning the carling cup or he simply didn't respect Birmingham.Both ways,he bit the dust.Right from the onset,Arsenal never felt they wanted the trophy.So they deserved what they got.Unfortunately,they would be realising their mistake late.By the time Barcelona and probably Man United come to town in the Champions' league and FA cup respectively,even seriousness might not save them.
What a pity.But at least they pay the price for their laxity.Maybe this would be a lesson to our dear Goodluck Jonathan.Laxity might make you lose what you seem to have won.Or to our dear T.A Orji,even getting serious late is not enough to save you

because things are moving thick and fast...oh!Here I go political again!
Henceforth,my dearests,I promise not to bore you much by going political.Or maybe,just a few times,to satisfy my urge.

So he finally came to Abia after much talk by his political godson.
Much had been said by the governor of the state concerning the impending arrival of the president to the South-East,nay,Abia State.Prior to that,the state radio had made much noise about it,political opponents had been warned not to show themselves there and the day was declared work-free.What we never realised was that it was not equally declared 'walk-free'. No moving vehicle,both private and public,was allowed to move around and everyone walked their way through - the army had a field day flgging everybody who dared move around,just because the 'messiah' was coming.
Well,we consider him one,anyway,else he would not have gotten the loud ovation he had.What really struck me was the reaction of the people when Ochendo made his way to the public.Almost unrecognised due to his height,he managed to dance his way through.Unfortunately,his efforts weren't appreciated,as every of his statements met a chorus of boos from the aggreived and difficult-to-deceive Abians.This is an indication that he has his work cut-out in this coming election.
Well,as Dame Patience Jonathan said,put your votes where you find the 'Umblerra' Chikena!

It was Jos last time.Then it happened in Abuja.Then Jos again.Then Abuja again.Almost Lagos.Then Bayelsa.Then places we couldn't recall.Then lately,Enugu.And more recently,Aba! No,it was not the governors commissioning roads,nor was it the country celebrating the impact of free education.No,it wasn't farmers being provided with necessary tools to help improve the Agricultural sector.Rather,it was the celebration of bombs!
It now looks like the cycle of eveything negative in Nigeria is never completed until it happens in Abia State.Well,that is a case for another day.We need assurances that our lives would not be in danger now the election is fast approaching.It is not enough that we have lost faith in the judiciary.It is not enough we have lost faith in our politicians.It is not enough that we suffer massive unemployment.It is not enough that everything is at a zero level,and we have been bearing them like strong and patient people that we are.What we wouldn't encourage is the wanton mutiny going on in the name of bomb blasts.We have lost enough...we now want to build!
Those idiots responsible for this unnecessary,dastardly,debasing and annoying act should have a rethink.Nigeria belongs to them...and us.So why destroy what belongs to you?We all have to find a way to make things better.Nigeria needs a quantum leap.Bombs would never provide that.

Recently,Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola took president Goodluck Jonathan to the cleaners for calling the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) in the South-West

touts.Hmn,possible,but highly surprising,considering the president is generally known for his very reserved mien. The statement was unguarded,to say the least...but come on,that is never enough to vilify him.Many a politicians in the country have said worse.
However,all we expect our president to do is watch his statements.People are watching.He cannot just lose the reputation he has so much built.
Despite all,he remains the right man in the eyes of a lot of people anyway.

So our own Gary Neville has retired as a Manchester United player. So touching. When we,and indeed himself,look back on his career - from his emotional support for Rio Ferdinand during the latter's drug case; his all-too-extreme celebration whenever Liverpool are downed; his constant reminder of 'our noisy neighbour' Manchester City on where they stand(and he feels it's down); his obvious allegiance to Sir Alex Ferguson,prompting former teammate Carlos Tevez to brand him a 'boot-licker - we can't but feel nostalgic.
Despite what anyone,especially our opponents,thinks,we love him and miss him. But come on,even his strongest critics would miss him.He is one of the reasons they watch Man United,to boo him. They would miss that privilege,at least.
He may not have enjoyed the media glow Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes had(or still have),but he doesn't care. His desire to win,strong-will,leadership qualities,obduracy and constant proclamation of love for Manchester United will always cement his place in our hearts.
I weep as I write this...a cry for joy and fulfil

In case we have forgotten,this is Nigeria,where everything goes.
Just what seems like yesterday,a certain Prof. Maurice Iwu was vilified by everybody whose country alphabet starts with 'N' for what was called irregularity in elections.He left,and in came Prof Attahiru Jega,who seemed to do no wrong.
All is now history,as pressure continues to mount on Jega over the failures of the voters' registration exercise.But even he should know that every honeymoon in Nigeria doesn't last long.He is being judged harshly,but we all know this country is harsh on its own.
I just wish we would be a bit patient and realise our country is in a developing democrac


y.There's still work to do,but we would get there!

We all have our dreams.Some dream of making all the money in the world.others dream of making a family.Some dream of being a bit sweet-tongued to woo the best of ladies/men,yet others dream of making heave.Even the devil has a dream: the day he would grab as much souls as he could to hell.Therefore,it is no news if I had one.What might be news,however,is the content of my dream.And believe me,I have a lot.I dream of making heaven,but before then to reach the topmost level of my educational pursuit; to acquire wealth so as to be comfortable; to get married to a very pretty,and also well behaved,damsel; to have as many kids as possible(no kidding); to be alive and see my children's children,the way my parents and siblings would see mine; to be the governor of Abia State; and to witness the day Abia leader T.A Orji would be disgraced out of office(that would be very soon).
Of all these lofty dreams,however,what would be my most enjoyable dream would be seeing a new Nigeria,devoid of its current malaise,filled with joy and religious,as well as ethnic tolerance!
Even the biggest fool knows Nigeria is retrogressing,rather than progressing.Infrastructural development is at its lowest ebb,power is a luxury we cannot afford,security condition is a nightmare and poverty is gallopping fast on the common man.Why not,when we have bad leaders who stop at nothing to make matters worse?I can boldly say that Nigerian politics and its politicians are the worst in the whole world.They are illiterates,they lack conscience and CANNOT accept their faults.The past Tunisian leader,who relinquished power,might be a devil in his country,and rightly so,with the problems he has caused.But he would rub shoulders with the likes of the Biblical Elijah if compared with Nigerian leaders.
Do you know people survive in Nigerian hospitals by God's grace,rather than medical intervention?Do you know more than three-quarter of Nigerian graduates are as unemployed as they come?Nigeria is a failed nation,and the people do not deserve it.Our leaders are nonchalant to our needs.
Therefore,as the elections draw near,I dream our votes would count so that the corrupt leaders would give way for the less-corrupt,and at least reduce our pains(we know it wouldn't stop,with the sort of people in politics)
We therefore urge the INEC chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega to put his and all hands on deck to save us.Nigeria would change in years to come.That,I am sure of.That would be my sweetest dream turned to reality.I know,with the fulfil
